The trumper influencer didn’t provide much insight and I tuned him out after he said Trump is “authentic” and I’d have liked to have known how a prolific liar can be authentic. Your comment that there’s no difference between Harris and Trump was also unfortunate but seems to validate your time at NYT. Nobody’s perfect and your value far exceeds your lapses. Keep fighting!

I would like to clarify that I’d never say that “there’s no difference between Trump and Harris.” That is objectively not true and there are pretty extreme differences between the two. I also don’t know what my tech reporting for NYT has to do with it? I am bummed you tuned out, I think that it’s valuable to hear from people (especially young people) about how they form their political ideologies— even when they seem nonsensical! But I hear you and understand how it could be frustrating.
Ironically, you don’t have to be truthful to be authentic. Authenticity to most people just means that you’re willing to be yourself, flaws and all. It doesn’t mean that you’re a good or honest person, sadly. I think many people who support Trump say that they like that they feel like he doesn’t speak down to them. Anyway, I really appreciate you weighing in and taking a listen! I value your feedback a lot. 🙏
Also sorry I just read my other reply and now I’m paranoid it sounds defensive 😅. I just don’t want people to think that I think Kamala Harris is the same as Trump. I’m not a Kamala booster and disagree with her on most things, but she’s definitely not the same as Trump. Ty again so much for reading!
